This is a website for some of my favorite places and activities.  It is my fervent hope others might see the same beauty I see in these places and experience similar inspiration.  I would wish the images to be enough to inspire others to visit the places and to look especially for the beauty and wonder present.

More than this, I desire to motivate others to recognize the benefit the natural world provides to humankind and the absolute necessity to preserve as much of it as we can.  We humans have exploited much of the resources mother earth has provided; so much so, we are beyond any turning points that might reverse damage wrought.  We can still do something for ourselves and future generations.

One danger looms.  People are increasingly urbanized.  A vast majority are further removed from the land that provides them their food and welfare.  Thus, when it comes to influencing peers and politicians about natural resources, urban people have less experience, feeling, and connection.  In addition they are ever more dependent upon practices that have nothing to do with natural resources.  In fact many practices, habits, and life styles of modern people demand even more stress on the resources already in jeopardy.

What are some of the answers?  The need to preserve what we currently have is paramount.  Be diligent and active to save what we have, be it wilderness areas, air, wetlands, rivers, lakes, wildlife, ground water, habitat.  Basically we must carefully scrutinize anything and everything that encroaches on a natural resource or natural area.  Public education especially through our schools, primary and secondary, is a starting point.  Support of conservation organizations is another.  Organizations such as the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Association, Sky Island Alliance, American Forests, Wilderness Society and many other local, National, and International groups are active in education and politics.  Vote for, better yet write, government representatives that are favorable toward protecting natural resources.  Best of all, get family and friends involved in activities at places that enhance their experience and connection to outdoor areas, wildlife and resources.

What?  Too busy with other things?  Then you need this more than you think.  You will find delving into nature study and visiting natural places to be a refuge from the rush and demand of a modern world.  Like exercise it must be scheduled along with all the other things.    Ted R Myers
